EEE PC!

My latest toy is the really cool EEE PC by ASUS.

It's a "sub-notebook," about the size of a paperback novel. It's fully-functional and really fast actually, far faster than I expected it to be given how it's designed. The resolution of the screen (800×480 by default) is really my only gripe about it as it makes viewing some webpages an annoying affair, but Firefox 3 is supposed to ship with a fit-to-width feature, and in the meantime I'm getting used to using Opera again (though we hates it, we do) as it has a better zoom function than the Firefox 3 beta.

Anyway I bought it namely for two reasons, to use the VPN on it to check work email easily, and to have something simple to take with me outside of the apartment for writing and so forth. It's built-in with wifi so any place I can get a signal I can hop online. So far battery life has been pretty good for me. And what's best is it fits inside my normal really-tiny bag that I take with me, actually coming out even smaller than the journal notebook I usually put in that place. I also spent the weekend configuring Remote Desktop to work so I can get into my home computer now from it wherever I am, so I can not only access just my files from anywhere, but my programs and such as well. I was out writing and streaming music from my home computer over wifi. D

Oh, the future!
